The time is now for the Cornhuskers

The time is NOW! Or, maybe next year {sigh}. Nebraska needs to take the next step on the road to recovery and to do that they have to win a big game. Any big game. Moral victories last season against Texas and Auburn only count for what they are - a steaming pile of jack squat! Losing a close game is still a loss and losing is for losers. Can the Huskers beat USC, Texas or OU? Heck yes. Will they? I sure hope so but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. It's hard to believe that it has been over five years since Nebraska has been a significant factor on the college football landscape.

Don't get me wrong here because Callahan has this program headed in the right direction. That isn't just my opinion - it is a fact. The current recruiting class is shaping up to be one of Nebraska's best ever. Never before have so many heralded prepsters shown an interest in coming to Lincoln and that is because of Bill Callahan and his version of the Corn Coast Offense. But like most Cornhusker fans I am spoiled. I want it all and I want it now. It will come but just not soon enough for me.
