NEWS FLASH! THE OKLAHOMA SOONERS ARE CHEATERS!

The NCAA announced today that the Oklahoma Sooners must erase their eight wins from the 2005 season, including a 31-24 win against Nebraska. OU will also lose two scholarships for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 school years. They don't actually forfeit the games, but the victories by crookery are vacated and Stoops' official won-loss record goes from 86-19 to 78-19.

Actually, the fact that Oklahoma cheats is not news to anyone that has even a casual interest in college football. The Sooners have been cheating for decades. This latest case of Sooner fraud brings Oklahoma's total cases involving major NCAA infractions up to seven. SEVEN! And that is only the ones where they actually got caught.

I say they got off too easy and this is just a slap on the wrist. No ban on television or bowl appearances? At the very least the NCAA should limit OU's postseason options over the next three years to playing either K-State, USC or Boise State.

The NCAA is a paper tiger and a complete joke. If the punishment actually fit the crimes, the NCAA would give Oklahoma a Lifetime Mischievement Award and order them to forfeit every game since 1953 and make the dirt burglers give back all that land they stole in 1889.
